How It Is Delivered

Online, near you, or at your workplace

Online — live webinar

The knowledge content of all 15 standards, taught live by a trainer you can question — not a click-through e-learning package. Join from home or work, anywhere in the UK.

  • Real trainer, real discussion, live scenarios
  • Ideal for home carers and dispersed teams
  • Sessions scheduled around care rotas

Face to face — venues & onsite

Classroom delivery at our training venues covering Liverpool, London, Kent and Essex — including our own Liverpool training centre — or onsite at your workplace for staff groups.

  • Hands-on practice for practical standards
  • Group bookings for care providers
  • Delivered UK-wide at your premises

Assessment: whichever way the teaching is delivered, the Care Certificate is completed by observation of practical skills in your workplace. We guide employers and learners through exactly what needs to be observed and recorded, so the certificate stands up to CQC scrutiny. Most full-time learners complete everything within about 12 weeks of starting.

Care Certificate course FAQs

How long does the course take?
Skills for Care suggests a full-time new starter should complete the Care Certificate within about 12 weeks of starting their role. The taught sessions themselves are delivered flexibly; overall time depends on shift patterns and how quickly workplace observations are arranged.
Can I do it fully online?
The knowledge parts — yes, through our live webinar delivery. The practical skills must be observed in your workplace; that assessment is what makes the certificate credible to employers and the CQC, and no fully-online course can replace it. Be wary of any provider claiming otherwise.
Where can I do it near me?
We run face to face delivery at venues covering Liverpool, London, Kent and Essex, come to your workplace anywhere in the UK for staff groups, and deliver online by live webinar wherever you are.
Does it expire?
No — the Care Certificate does not expire and moves with you between employers. Individual subjects within it, such as basic life support and moving and handling, are typically refreshed annually under employer policy.
